Cyberspace Dietetics

Dietitian On-Line (Ireland)
- Interesting visual layout in this important site based in Ireland and
focussed on providing resources for dietitians. This includes Clinical Nutrition On-Line (see previous and following listings), with several on-line discussion groups, free web space for those who might want to put up their own page, job ads, listing of dietitians and nutrition links.
NutriLink!
- Morfin-Guevara is a dietetic student who has set up a site to encourage participation from others to put up: "stories, columns and issues of interest for: Nutrition Professionals, Students and People interested in Nutrition and Health." This is also part of the Clinical Nutrition On-line group, which he refers to as being "an independent body run solely on a nonprofit basis by interested Dietetic Professionals and Students from many Countries." As part of this site, he also maintains Dietetic Technicians On-line, which has food service links, as well as offering access for lay public to ask questions of dietetic members.

American Dietetic Association
- Nicely laid out site with lots of material about America's foremost dietitian's organisation, its journal (JADA) its legislative lobbying program, special interest groups, meetings etc. Some of its lay-oriented
nutrition information and ADA press releases, plus lists of affiliated
organisations and a few links to other nutrition sites. Also searchable index of registered dietitians.Of particular interest to other health professionals are the position statements on a wide variety of issues.

- Colourful well produced site on Australia's leading nutrition education organisation. The web site has news, the latest newsletter (nicely illustrated), organisational information and catalogue of pamphlets (but no content on-line).

- Information about the Association, which is in Florida,
USA. Also summary of contents of last meeting.

California Dietetic Association
- Still in its early stages, this site has, apart from the expected
information about the organisation, news stories on the latest nutrition controversies, short
cooking and food tips, a brief description of what a dietitian does, links (so far only one!!) and a
form for the publc to send in an information request. There is also a dietitian members only
section with list of CDA professional resources and news releases. If consistently developed, this
new site has the potential to become an important addition to the list of on-line nutrition
resources.

- Listing of AAFP "favourably reviewed" printed materials (purchase and contact details) for physicians who want materials ro give to their patients to help "address the Healthy People 2000 Nutrition objectives". The content and reading level of the printed matter is described, but there is no actual material here.
