Daily updates to popular press articles in the diet/nutritions section. As you might expect, the stories are often fairly brief and unfortunately do not appear to be dated.

Pick of the crop Nutrition News Focus Based on material provided by Dr. David Klurfeld, the head of the Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences at Wayne State University (although the site points out that this newsletter is not connected with that institution). This is very orthodox and reliable information on the latest nutrition issues, and you can have it emailed to you. A very worthwhile service.

American Council on Science and Health news releases

Non-profit body aimed at interpreting scientific research for lay understanding. According to the web site it works on "consumer education consortium concerned with issues related to food, nutrition, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, lifestyle, the environment and health. " The site has articles and press releases on a range of nutrition related topics, as well as other public health issues.

American School Food Service Association Child Nutrition News

Few news stories on school lunch programs etc.

Australian Nutrition Foundation newsletter

Australia's leading nutrition education organisation has the latest newsletter (nicely illustrated) on-line.

CERIN newsletters for health professionals

Two-monthly bulletins in French from CERIN (Center for Research and Information on Nutrition), with information about current nutritional issues. There are two of them:

• Cholé-Docaimed at researchers, doctors and nutrition specialists.
• Nutri-docaimed at dietitians.

Compass Ernährung

On-line newsletter from the German Federal Ministry of Nutrition, Agriculture and Forestry. Information is provided on food quality and food safety.

Dietetique En Action

Newsletter of the Dietitians Association of Quebec, entirely in French, the on-line content for this publicatoin is accessed from the home page.

Doctors Guide - Metabolic and nutritional news

Every month or so this medical cybersite puts up a news story related to nutrition. Tends to focus on drug and supplementary food treatments.

Nutrition Notes: American Institute for Cancer Research

"a weekly nutrition and health column produced by the American Institute for Cancer Research and distributed by request to more than 725 newspapers nationwide". They also have "Nutrition Wise", a weekly nutrition and health question and answer column and a quarterly newsletter with consumer articles on cooking, healthy eating etc.

Information Technologies in food and nutrition

Papers from a conference held by the International Foundation for Science, outline a lot of useful information on public health and other nutrition research, and food composition work being done in Europe, including some of the smaller and Eastern European countries such as Estonia, Hungary, Poland etc. and in other regions of the world such as Japan, Africa, West Indies, Thailand etc.
