Africa Nutrition Analysis Initiative
Brief information on this project of USAID. "The Africa Nutrition Initiative is funded by the USAID Bureau for Africa and the Global Bureau Office of Nutrition through the Food Security and Nutrition Monitoring Project (IMPACT). Its purpose is to make available to decision makers and technicians nutrition related information contained in the Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) surveys in usable formats for policy formulation and program development. DHS surveys offer a timely and cost-effective method for the measurement of child growth (height, weight) and the gathering of information on young child feeding practices, disease prevalence and other relevant information."

The Panel Study of Income Dynamics
"longitudinal survey of a representative sample of US individuals and the families in which they reside. It has been ongoing since 1968. The data are collected annually, and the data files contain the full span of information collected over the course of the study. PSID data can be used for cross-sectional, longitudinal, and intergenerational analysis and for studying both individuals and families" Data. reports and newsletter available on-line.
Program Against Micronutrient Malnutrition
In collaboration with OMNI (see above). The focus of PAMM is to assist countries with developing their own technical capacity and management systems. Group from Emory University with focus on eliminating micronutrient deficiency. "To accomplish these goals, PAMM works to build public-private sector alliances, strengthen regional and national education and training systems, raise awareness through advocacy at all levels, and to develop standards to establish quality assurance of national micronutrient programs." OXFAM

"Established in 1987 to coordinate research and training activities concerning human nutrition problems of low-income countries, and of ethnic minorities and disadvantaged groups in the United States." Web page has program and staff information and a few links.
The Sick Child Initiative: Consideration of the Nutrition Components
Full text of the 1995 report of the Committee on International Nutrition, Food and Nutrition Board, Board on International Health, Institute Of Medicine. The Sick Child Initiative is a public health project to ensure proper paediatric care and assessment is available to children with common diseases such as measles, gatroenteritis etc,, particularly in Third World and poor loving environments. This report looks at the nutritional issues involved, and is very much a public health perspective as well as clinical.
USDA Child Nutrition Programs
Information from the USDA's Food and Consumer Service on the various government child nutrition programs (e.g. National School Lunch, The School Breakfast, the Special Milk , the Summer Food Service, and the Child and Adult Care Food Programs.
USDA Economics and Statistics System
In conjunction with Cornell University, "contains nearly 300 reports and datasets from the economics agencies of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. These materials cover U.S. and international agriculture and related topics.
World Food Aid Needs and Availabilities
This full-text report can be downloaded from the Cornell Mann library. It is a study of world food aids needs, defined as amount of grain needed to fill the gap between what a country can produce plus its financial capacity to import commercially, and a targeted consumption level including emergency needs. Factors considered include supply and demand, prices and trade, food production, yields, fertilizer use, land constraints, water and irrigation,population growth, food consumption and nutrition, domestic policies, foreign exchange availablilities.
