Fooddudes: Good list of resources related to commercial aspects of food: products, manufacturers, professional services, associations etc.
Food Manufacturer's home pages list from Iowa Extn.: Reasonably long list of food manufacturers with web pages.
Healthy.Net: Health food products: search engine from Healthy Net: Search for vitamin and other health food store product listings. Returns brands and prices. Not clear whether this is just from one health store company or a wider range.
New Hope Group: Natural products group also publishing supplement and healthy living related on-line and printed magazines. Their site has links to other alternative nutrition companies and products.
Yahoo! - Business and Economy:Companies:Health:Nutrition: Alphabetical order, with additional sections for some common supplements such as Aloe Vera and anti-oxidants.

Berkeley Nutrition Services: Commercial service offering nutrition analsis based on home-completed questionnaire. The web site also has a couple of simple on-line screening assessments for fruuit/vegetable/fibre and fat intake analysis, using some simple food frequency input.
Center for Digestive Health and Nutrition Home Page: Endoscopy Centre with a dietitian attached. Information about the centre, rather than clinical content.

Mead Johnson
Novartis: Novartis has web sites specific to the nutrition side of its business, one for the US and one for the rest of the world.They contain nutrition news, both from lay and health professional perspectivc, as well as product information.
Roche: Mainly company information.

Major food companies

Note: this list is by no means complete. See comments under Individual nutrition companies and products

BASF Corporation: The main focus is on providing Information about the company and its products. Also a newsletter on vitamin supplementation, fortification and other nutritional issues.
Danone Institute: Web site for this group of bodies set up by yoghurt manufacturer Danone based in France, but with branches in many European and other countries. In their own words: "The purpose of Danone Institutes is to provide a link between scientists involved in diet and nutrition, and the professionnals in health and education, and through the latter, to bring relevant scientific knowledge on diet to the attention of the public." The site currently (1997) has brief information on the various branch's activities.
Gerber Products: Information on infant feeding issues from baby food company, mixed with lots of product information.
Kellogg's: These are the home pages of this major food company's Nutrition Advisory Service, with lay advice on nutrients and nutritional issues relevant to its products, such as folic acid, calcium, fibre etc.
Kentucky Fried Chicken: Some nutritional information about their products.
McDonald's: The nutrition section of this main company web site has nutritional information on their products, news about their new Willie Munchright cartoon character, and a Q&A section with a nutritionist.
Monsanto: Nice modern web site with animation and scrolling screens, (if you would rather skip them, go straight to the main index page). When you get to the content, it is mainly about the company and its activities, with some material on sustainable development.
Quaker Oats: Lay oriented diet information with an expected focus on fibre and oats, including phytochemical issues and views on nutrition and cancer.
Woolworths (Australia): A lot of effort has gone into this site to make it appealing to the visitor. It has dietary advice, cooking tips and recipes from a nutritionist, information on food ingredients, food additives and meal planning. Well worth a visit.

Note: The Arbor Nutrition Guide does not currently carry details of individual nutrition products and companies. There are far too many of these commercial web pages on the Internet, for us to cover fairly.
The only ones we are listing presently are a few pharmaceutical companies that have major nutrition focus, plus a few of the major food companies which have significant nutrition on their web sites.

However, we may well add further information on individual nutrition businesses and products web sites to this sub-section in the future.
