From DAINET, a German agricultural and food research service, this is a lay source of nutrition information, including answers to visitors questions, and a series of colourful pamphlets in full text on-line. Also press releases.

A service of the Federal German Agricultural and Nutrition Ministry, this web site has a great deal of information on agriculture, fisheries and human nutrition, particularly statistics, as well as links to other web sites. this is a lay source of nutrition information, including answers to visitors.

The German Nutrition Information Service: GEBUIN
An "extensive information system for food and nutrition in Germany" from Nutrition Information Center, at the Institute of Nutritional Science, Justus-Liebig-University of Giessen. This is the English front end, but there is also a fully German version.

News releases are detailed and well worth reading if you can understand German.The web site also has plenty of information on agriculture, and some international perspective on food supply.
German Insitute for Nutrition Research (Deutsches Institute für Ernährungsforschung)
This site has results and information on many studies done within the Institute, including national nutritional surveys.
German Federal Research Centre for Nutrition ( Bundesforschungsanstalt für Ernährung)
Information on the organisation, search engine for publications, and some links. In both English and German.
German Nutrition Society (Deutschen Gesellschaft für Ernährung )
Information on their organisation, plenty of plain text lay information, some policy statements, details on forthcoming conferences as well as some abstracts from previous ones etc. Also their newsletter DGE-Info. This is all in German, but there is some in English.
BFE/FRCN: Institute for Economy and Sociology of Nutrition
Concentrates on "Nutrition behaviour and the effectiveness of consumer education programmes". Web pages in both German (Teilinstitut für Ernährungsökonomie und -soziologie) and English.

Bund für Lebensmittelrecht und Lebensmittelkunde (BLL). Food industry group from Germany. Their colourful web site has a good deal of information on food, food safety, research, some publications (although mainly ordering information more than the actual material), a newsletter and details of the organisation.

Federal Research Centre for Nutrition
Bundesforschungsanstalt für Ernährung (BFE). Data bases on food irradiation, its own publications, and links to its various Institutes (such as Institute of Nutritional Physiology), as well as to external sites..

Society for Independent Nutrition Advice
Verband für unabhängige Gesundheitsberatung is a food consumer non-profit group commited to healthy living. It has an `Academy' concerned with health promotion for such groups as cooks as well as the general public,

Web site is in German for this food consumer rights group in Germany, with organisational details on their web site. Also lots of material on food safety, gene technology in food production, herbicides etc.

One of the two most authoratative web sites on Internet nutrition sites and resources in Germany (the other is Hohenheim University- see below). departmental information, plus course information and some lay nutrition resources.

The University has a number of nutrition entities and associations with other German organistations. For example, the Nutrition Information Center, the Institute of Nutritional Science, (Institut für Ernährungswissenschaft is the German version of the web site). Hence, quite a number of different but related nutrition web resources can be found on this university's server.

The university has several elements devoted to nutrition and food science.

The Institut für Biologische Chemie und Ernährungswissenschaft web site has information on academics, organisation, research projects, links and publications. It also has one of the best sets of calculators available on the Internet (albeit entirely in German) :
There is a Food Technology Institute (Institut für Lebensmitteltechnologie), but the main home page link was broken when we looked, and we could only find the page of the Food Analysis section (Arbeitsbereich Lebensmittelanalytik) when we checked.
