Pick of the crop

American Journal of Clinical Nutrition
A pretty good on-line offering for the world's premier clinical nutrition publication.

The web site has content starting with January 1996 issue, and keeps itself quite current. For each issue you can read the table of contents, and this includes the Supplements. Most but not articles allow free access to their abstracts, and some articles (mainly editorials) have their full text available in Adobe (.pdf) format. You can get automatically emailed tables of contents.

The main thing missing is a search engine.

On top of all this there is a New and Noteworthy section, calendar of international meetings, a few links to other nutrition sites and of course subscription and author information.

All in all, a thoughtful implementation that effectively allows Internet access to one of the top nutrition journals of all.

Has a particular interest in cultural nutrition issues, although it is primarily a clincal nutrition journal. On-line abstracts and it has another web site as well for issues from 1992-9.

On-line abstracts and electronic TOCin this academic journal from the Dietitians Association of Australia.

Bibliotheca Nutritio et Dieta
Table of contents only available at the publishers home site, but you can get access to a few selected abstracts by going through Biomednet, where after initial free registeration, you access a few free sample articles from recent issues, the rest are only available on payment.
The British Journal of Nutrition
Emailed table of contents service, issues since 1999 available via Ingenta, which allows abstracts to be viewed for free via `guest login', and previously on the journal's on web site.
British Medical Journal: Nutrition articles
Although not specifically a nutrition journal, the BMJ has so many relevant nutrition papers, a specific category for nutrition, and such an excellent on-line web site (one of the best of all biomedical journals) it well and truly belongs in this section.

The official journal of the Société de Nutrition et de Diététique de Langue Française, abstracts of the current edition are available on-line.

Clinical Nutrition
Official journal of the European Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, the web site which can also be accessed through Elsevier has information on the journal, TOC and full-text for subscribers. This journal also incorporates the publication Clinical Nutrition Supplements.
