The Center has a strong academic program, whose focus is to "train professionals who wish to address the major public health problems internationally and in the U.S" Also strong on nutritional assessment.

One of the pioneering food and nutrition university web sites, which continues to have strong features due in part to the efforts of faculty member Paul Brady, who now works in a special unit for computer based instruction. The site has on-line course material of good quality, resources in school nutrition . There is also the usual faculty and departmental information (the department has two fathers, the College of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences and the College of Human Ecology.
